How to delete a Stake account: closure, breaks and self-exclusion

Many players search for how to delete a Stake account. A full deletion is not available — the operator must keep certain records by law — but there are five ways to stop playing: account closure, Break in Play, product exclusion, self-exclusion and, for poker, a separate poker exclusion. This page compares them so you can pick the one that fits.

The key difference is intent. Closure is meant for people who simply no longer find gambling entertaining or want to leave for personal reasons. Self-exclusion is a protection tool for anyone who feels at risk of a gambling problem. A break is a short pause, for example during exams, Ramadan or a month of saving. Product exclusion suits players who struggle with one part only — say, slots — but want to keep betting on cricket.

How to close or deactivate the account

  1. Withdraw your balance

Move PKR or crypto out of the wallet and the Vault first, so nothing is left behind.

  2. Open the closure setting

Go to Responsible Gambling → Account Closure in your account settings.

  3. Choose a reason and confirm

The account is closed immediately — no support ticket is needed.

If the setting is not available or you prefer someone to do it, e-mail accountclosure@stake.com from the registered address. After closure the account can no longer log in, receive bonuses or get promotional material. Reopening is possible after a 24-hour cooling-off period by writing to the same address. Before the final step, cash out the balance: withdrawals need each deposit wagered once, KYC level 2 for PKR, and go only to methods used for deposits.

Break in Play

Break in Play is the lightest option. Open Stake Smart → Self Exclusion, choose “Request Break in Play” and confirm one of four periods: 1 day (24 hours), 2 days, 1 week or 1 month. During the break no activity is possible on the account — no bets, no deposits — and the account opens again by itself when the period ends. A short break is useful after a losing streak, when emotions push towards chasing losses: 24 hours is often enough to reset. If the same urge returns after every break, a longer tool is the better choice.

Product exclusion

Product exclusion blocks either the casino or the sportsbook and leaves everything else working. A casino exclusion still allows Stake Poker and sports bets; a sportsbook exclusion still allows casino games and poker. Deposits, withdrawals, chat and bonuses stay available. To set it, go to Responsible Gambling → Self Exclusion → Request Product Exclusion, pick Casino or Sportsbook and a duration: 24 hours, 7, 30 or 90 days, or indefinite. A fixed-period exclusion cannot be reversed — you wait until it expires. An indefinite one can be lifted only after a manual review requested from support@stake.com. Poker is handled by a separate poker exclusion.

Self-exclusion

  1. Open Stake Smart

Navigate to Stake Smart → Self Exclusion.

  2. Request self-exclusion

    Click “Request Self Exclusion”.

  3. Confirm

Once it takes effect, no further activity is possible on the account.

Self-exclusion is indefinite and lasts at least six months. After that period the account can be considered for reactivation, but only through a formal return-to-play review that starts with an e-mail to support@stake.com. Promotional e-mails stop during the exclusion. Trying to get around it with another account defeats its purpose. For extra protection, combine it with blocking software such as BetBlocker and with outside support from help organisations.

Account closure FAQ

Can I delete my Stake account permanently?

No. Complete deletion is not possible because legal and compliance rules require some data to be kept. The account can be closed instead, which makes it inaccessible and stops all marketing.

How do I close the account?

Go to Responsible Gambling → Account Closure in the account settings, choose a reason and confirm. The account closes immediately. Alternatively, e-mail accountclosure@stake.com from the registered address.

Can a closed account be reopened?

Yes, after a 24-hour cooling-off period, by e-mailing accountclosure@stake.com from the registered address.

How long does self-exclusion last?

Self-exclusion is indefinite with a minimum of six months. After that, reactivation is possible only after a formal return-to-play review requested through support@stake.com.

Can I block only sports betting?

Yes. Product exclusion blocks either the casino or the sportsbook for 24 hours, 7, 30 or 90 days, or indefinitely, while the rest of the account stays active.

What happens to my balance?

Withdraw the balance before closing or excluding the account. With product exclusion, deposits and withdrawals remain available; with a full exclusion, contact support if funds are left.
