Responsible gambling at Stake: limits, tools and help
Gambling should stay a paid form of entertainment, not a way to make money or solve problems. Stake Pakistan players have a full set of controls under Stake Smart: loss, wager and deposit limits, breaks, product exclusion and self-exclusion, plus a self-test and a budget calculator. This page explains how each tool works and when to use it.
What Stake Smart includes
Stake Smart is the responsible gambling hub linked from the side menu. Its menu has five parts: the Stake Smart overview with the operator's mission statement, Recognise the Signs, Responsible Gambling FAQs, a Self-Assessment test and a Budget Calculator. The overview lists six practical tips that are worth reading before any session:
- Keep other hobbies and activities in your week, so gambling is only one of them.
- Decide before a session how much you will spend and how long you will play.
- Never spend more than you can afford to lose.
- Understand the odds and the risks — every game has a house edge.
- Stop when it is no longer fun or when gambling has become a problem.
- Use loss limits and wager limits to keep control.
The same page explains the house edge: a percentage of all money wagered is kept by the operator over time. On Plinko or Mines it is 1%, on Chicken or Dragon Tower 2%, and on sports bets the operator uses a theoretical 3% for its own calculations.
Loss, wager and deposit limits
| Limit | Periods | Raise or remove |
|---|---|---|
| Loss limit | Daily, weekly, monthly | After 24 hours |
| Wager limit | Daily, weekly, monthly | After 24 hours |
| Deposit limit (local currency, e.g. PKR) | Daily | After 24 hours |
| Deposit limit (crypto) | Daily, excess goes to a withholding balance | After 24 hours |
Limits are set from the Responsible Gambling tab of your account: choose Gambling Limits, pick the type, the amount and the period, then press Add Limit. A new or lower limit works at once; a higher one waits 24 hours so that the decision is not made in the heat of a session. A simple example: with a monthly budget of 20,000 PKR, a weekly loss limit of 5,000 PKR and a daily limit of 2,000 PKR on PKR deposits keep a bad evening from eating the whole month. Crypto above the deposit limit is not lost — it sits in the withholding balance and is released when the limit resets.
Self-assessment and budget calculator
The Self-Assessment test asks a short series of questions about how gambling affects your time, money and mood, and the Recognise the Signs page lists warning signals such as chasing losses, borrowing to play or hiding gambling from family. The Budget Calculator helps work out how much money is truly free after rent, bills and savings — only that amount should ever reach a casino balance.
- Chasing losses — raising stakes to win back money — is the most common warning sign.
- Playing longer than planned or feeling restless when not playing are early signals too.
- Bonuses do not change the maths: rakeback and weekly bonuses return part of the house edge, not your losses.
Breaks and exclusion
When limits are not enough, three stronger tools are available. Break in Play locks the account for 1 day, 2 days, 1 week or 1 month and reopens it automatically. Product exclusion blocks only the casino or only the sportsbook for 24 hours, 7, 30 or 90 days, or indefinitely, while deposits and withdrawals stay possible. Self-exclusion blocks the whole account indefinitely, with a minimum of six months before a return-to-play review. During any exclusion promotional e-mails stop.
Where to get help
Talking to someone outside the situation often helps more than any setting. These organisations are listed by the operator's Help Center:
- Gambling Therapy — free online support and chat in several languages, support@gamblingtherapy.org.
- Gamblers Anonymous — peer support meetings, including online groups.
- Gamtalk — an online community and directory of helplines and treatment services.
- BetBlocker, Gamblock and Net Nanny — apps that block gambling websites on phones and computers, also useful to protect minors in the household.
Gambling is for adults only. Stake does not accept players under 18 or under the legal age where they live, and parents who share devices should use blocking software and keep logins private.
Responsible gambling FAQ
What is Stake Smart?
Stake Smart is the operator's responsible gambling section. It contains tips, a Recognise the Signs page, FAQs, a self-assessment test and a budget calculator, and it links to the account tools for limits, breaks and exclusion.
How quickly does a new limit apply?
Setting a limit or lowering an existing one applies immediately. Raising or removing a loss, wager or deposit limit only takes effect after a 24-hour cooling-off period.
Can I set a deposit limit for PKR?
Yes. For local currencies a daily deposit limit is available. For crypto, any amount deposited above the limit is held in a withholding balance and released when the daily limit resets.
What if limits are not enough?
A Break in Play blocks the account for 1 day to 1 month, product exclusion blocks only the casino or only the sportsbook, and self-exclusion blocks the whole account for at least six months.
Where can I get outside help?
Gambling Therapy and Gamblers Anonymous offer free support online. Blocking tools such as BetBlocker and Gamblock can stop access to gambling sites on your devices.
